Turn an hourly rate into a useful annual plan

Use paid hours and paid weeks rather than assuming every job pays for 2,080 hours.

Write down paid time

Multiply hourly rate by paid hours each week and paid weeks in the year. Forty hours for 52 paid weeks is 2,080 hours; 37.5 hours for 50 paid weeks is 1,875. Unpaid leave changes the result. Overtime and vacation-pay arrangements need separate treatment.

Compare the complete offer

A higher hourly rate can come with fewer guaranteed hours, unpaid leave, a longer commute or different benefits. Keep these costs visible instead of calling the gross annual difference a raise in spending money.

Use one set of assumptions

The hourly table and main calculator use the same 2026 employment model. Compare gross and net using the same province and working schedule. The result does not establish an applicable minimum wage or employment entitlement.
